Usher‘s newest single “DJ Got Us Fallin’ In Love” featuring Pitbull is currently number 7 on the iTunes songs chart. And now he’s got a video for it. Check it out as it’s basically a showcase for his dance skills… as if you didn’t already know.
Last night on Jimmy Kimmel, Flo Rida took to the stage to perform his single “Club Can’t Handle Me.” The song is on the soundtrack for Step Up 3D, and will appear on his upcoming 3rd album which is titled The Only One.
Not trying to hate on the guy as he did at least pick a direction with his music (party / dancey hip hop), but it just doesn’t seem authentic to us. You can tell he’d obviously rather share the stage with the like of Black Eyed Peas and Ke$ha (who was the vocalist on his first big hit “Right Round”) than he would with any real MCs. This may be the case of a talented rapper who got lured into the pop world. But in the event that this is truly the direction he has always wanted to go, and this is the music that truly resonates in his heart, than we’ll applaud him… as we look for the nearest exit.
Just days after reporting that Black Eyed Peashave the most downloaded song in history in “I Gotta Feeling,” comes word that the group will be releasing another album. They performed on Good Morning America on Friday (7/30) and told the crowd that the will be following up their double platinum album The E.N.D. with a new release titled The Beginning and hope to have it out by the end of the year.
With Michael Jackson‘s passing last year, the title for best dancer/artist alive has been seemingly split between 2 guys… Chris Brown and Usher. Well over this past weekend during the Reggae Sumfest in Jamaica, both men were on stage together in the midst of Elephant Man’s set. Have a look above at the video taken by one of the members of the crowd.
Madonna has reportedly started auditioning dancers for her upcoming tour next fall. She is said to have taken over the Aura nightclub in London, along with her 23 year old model boyfriend, Jesus Luz, as she looks to bring on the most fitting performers for the trek which is supposedly set to have a hip hop feel to it. The 51 year old singer has a deal with Live Nation who will be producing the as yet titled tour.
A source told the U.K.’s Daily Mirror newspaper the following…
“It’s going to be her biggest, most unexpected tour to date. She is going back to her New York City roots, with a street/hip-hop feel, and wants to make it a physical, dance-heavy set of gigs.”
Over this past weekend, there were 2 live performances which made headlines. On Saturday (7/24), a dance music festival called The Love Parade took place in Germany. Its an annual event which has taken place since 1989 (originally in Berlin) and features a number of the world’s leading DJs and dance artists. Somewhere around 1.4 million people showed up however the grounds were unable to support that many people. Although it’s not entirely clear how it happened, 19 people were killed when a stampede occurred in a tunnel leading to the site of the event, an old industrial railway station. An organizer for the event held a press conference afterward stating there will never again be a Love Parade out of respect for those who lost their lives.
On a much lighter note, Kings Of Leon stopped playing after just 3 songs in St. Louis on Friday (7/23), due to an infestation of pigeons who continuously crapped all over the stage and the band themselves. The group’s bassist, Jared Followill, even got some in his mouth, according to reports. He told the press “We couldn’t believe what [opening acts] The Postelles and The Stills looked like after their sets. We didn’t want to cancel the show, so we went for it. We tried to play. It was ridiculous.”
Live Nation said they are giving full refunds to ticket holders and the band said they will return as soon as possible.
Here is some amateur footage taken as the staff of the venue announced the show was over…
Ne-Yo is releasing his next album, Libra Scale on September 21st. 2 Of the songs included on the disc are “Beautiful Monster” and “Champagne Life.” And today, he put out videos for both of them. Have a look at the movie-like video of the former above, and it’s plot continuation for the latter below.
Flo-Rida was the musical guest on Leno last night, where he performed the song “Club Can’t Handle Me.” The David Guetta produced track will appear on the Step Up 3-D soundtrack when it shows up in stores on July 27th. The film itself will hit theaters on August 6th. So all of you out there who have been waiting for a movie about dancing in 3-D can finally get some sleep… both of you.
We totally understand that dancey pop is what’s selling right now. Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Ke$ha and the Black Eyed Peas are all proving that fact. But is this actually a song that gets you fired up?
Notes: ceo is a new project from the lead singer of the Swedish act The Tough Alliance, Eric Berglund. The first album came out yesterday (6/29) and this is the standout track. The light airy vocals on the tune blend well with the mellow yet moving tempo of the song. This is the type of track that will soon be remixed a million times and will end up being played in all of the trendy boutiques and stores in LA and New York. It also has a great summer time vibe so expect to hear it more and more in the coming months whether it’s in a commercial, blasting from the DJ’s speakers at the next hotel pool party you go to in Hollywood, or simply shopping for clothes.
Where To Go Get It: Preview it below but it’s available right now for purchase on

There’s no question that dance music is in these days. Pop stars have infused their music with dance beats (think Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, Jason Derulo) and dance artists are finding their way into the mainstream as well. French DJ David Guetta has had worldwide success with his songs featuring the likes of R&B star Kelly Rowland and hip hop’s Kid Cudi. That story has likely influenced Italian DJ/producer Benny Benassi who has been known in the dance world for years but kept out of the mainstream spotlight… until now.
For his latest release, he recruited Kelis (who has made nearly a full transition herself into the dance scene), R&B singer Jean-Baptiste and apl.de.ap from Black Eyed Peas. He also got himself quite the budget for the video for the song, which is titled “Spaceship.” Have a look above.
Benny will be playing a show at New York’s Governor’s Island on July 5th.
