When the Grammy’s takes place on January 31st, viewers will get to see the a tribute to Michael Jackson in a way they have never seen him before… 3-D.
Last year, Jackson was invited to be a big part of the Grammy’s but ended up declining the invitation as he felt he was not yet ready. This year, he will be honored not only with a lifetime achievement award, but also with a 3-D clip the singer made for the track “Earth Song,” which will air as Usher, Smokey Robinson, Carrie Underwood, Celine Dion and Jennifer Hudson perform alongside the clip.
“Whenever we would do a show with (Jackson), the first thing he would say to me was, `How can we do something that we (have) never done before?’ And now we’re doing something that hasn’t been done before,” said Ken Ehrlich, who worked with Jackson for almost 30 years, and is the co-executive producer of the Grammy telecast.
Viewers can purchase 3-D “Grammy Glasses” at Target locations from January 24 – 31. Viewers without them will still see the clip but without the 3-D effects.
