T.I. & Wife Arrested On Drug Charges

Uh-oh.  Although T.I. has only been out of prison for a matter of months, it looks like he may end up going back in.  Early this morning, the rapper and his new wife, Tameka Cottle were pulled over in West Hollywood when cops smelled marijuana coming from their vehicle.  The officers on the scene not only found the marijuana but also arrested the couple on 4 counts of possession of a controlled substance.  Bail was set at $10,000 each which has been paid at this point.  Can’t wait to hear how he handles the press with this one.

UPDATE: Now sources are saying they found ecstasy.  This could get ugly.

T.I. may have pushed back his album release, but he’s still doing some promo for it.  The formerly imprisoned rapper turned actor was the musical guest on Jimmy Kimmel this past Friday (8/20).  Along with Keri Hilson, he performed the song “Got Your Back.”  Have a look above as we might not see too many more of these types of performances from T.I., at least until his movie promo schedule dies down.

T.I. Pushes Album Back

Ever since T.I. was released from prison a few months ago, the music world has anxiously been waiting for his King Uncaged album to drop.  Well now, fans will have to wait even longer.  In typical hip hop fashion, T.I. has decided to push the release date back indefinitely.  The reason?  He wants to give his full attention to the promotion of his new movie, Takers. 

Didn’t Christina Aguilera say she cancelled her tour so she could promote her film, Burlesque?  And didn’t Justin Timberlake basically stop making music so he could do The Social Network, Friends With Benefits and other acting roles?  Seems like even the big stars of music are smelling the money on the film side of entertainment.

A Weekend Of Weddings

The music community was filled with love this past weekend as a number of artists took the plunge.  Alicia Keys and her producer beau, Swizz Beatz got hitched in Italy at an estate in Corsica.  They then celebrated aboard a 260-foot yacht in the Mediterranean Sea.  Sounds pretty pimp!

Rapper T.I. also put a ring on it this weekend as he wed former Xscape singer, Tameka “Tiny” Cottle at a private ceremony in Miami.  The couple already have 2 children together.  You can also see Tiny make a cameo in T.I.’s latest video.

And finally, DJ Jazzy Jeff got married in Jamaica to Lynette Jackson.  He was proud to send out the following tweet just after the nuptials took place…

Kid Cudi’s Album Pushed Back… Again

It was exactly a week ago that we told you Kid Cudi‘s album release was getting pushed back to September 28th (it was originally supposed to come out September 14th).  Well now comes word that it is again being delayed.  The latest release date is now October 26th.  So what’s the reason this time?  We doubt we’ll ever really find out, but the label is at least claiming its due to other big hip hop albums coming out that day from T.I. and Young Jeezy.  That may be true, however didn’t the label take a look at the other releases when it initially locked in the date of 9/28 last week?  Something seems fishy here.  Lets just hope it’s not a quality issue.

Looks like T.I.spent his time in prison writing.  So it’s not hard to understand why he’s got a song on his upcoming album, King Uncaged, that’s about going away then coming home to a woman who’s behind him no matter what.  Have a look at the new video for the song “Got Your Back” which features Keri Hilson.  And if you stick around to the end, you’ll see who the song was likely written for, as his fiance Tameka “Tiny” Cottle makes a quick cameo.

Swizz Beatz On T.I.’s Album

Hip hop and R&B producer, Swizz Beatz has 2 songs on the upcoming T.I. album, King Uncaged which is out on August 17th.  The pair have worked together in the past however according to what Swizz told MTV News, these new tracks are definitely a step up from their previous work.  Have a listen for yourself.

New Big Boi Track Featuring T.I.

Big Boi is finally releasing his album Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son Of Chico Dusty next week.  And since the date is fast approaching, another leak has surfaced.  This one is a single from the album called “Tangerine” which features T.I. who seems to be popping up on a consistent basis since re-entering the game.  Have a listen below at what’s likely going to be a song that gets lots of attention this summer.

T.I. Envies Will Smith

When it comes to credible rappers, there is arguably none that have the respect in the streets and in the mainstream that Jay-Z does.  However when T.I. was asked about how long he would be rapping for, he made it clear that he wants to take a different path than Jay, who is still going at strong at 40 years old.

“If I had the option to [be] Jay-Z [or] Will Smith, I think I’d go with Will. I’m a Jay-Z fan. I have a lot of admiration and respect for Jay and his legacy. But I feel like Will, he gets to spend more time with his family. He gets to be home more and actually raise his kids. I feel like he has more of a home life…and the money don’t hurt. Twenty million dollars a flick ain’t bad.”

Interesting.  Sounds like he has more of a desire to be an actor these days than he does a rapper.  Was it the jail time that changed his mind? Or was this a goal he’s always had?  It’s likely only T.I. knows.  But either way, you can judge his acting chops when his movie Takers comes out on August 27th.
